The results of this work will be integrated with findings from international partners in Hasselt, Belgium, and Vorarlberg, Austria, to develop three distinct "toolkits." These toolkits will contain methods designed to foster dialogue and listening, ultimately facilitating the development of sustainable urban life.

Project LISTEN is a research project that aims to encounter, examine, and explore various interpretations of suburban areas.
Norra Grängesbergsgatan is a former industrial area that currently houses a diverse mix of civil society and cultural actors, small and medium-sized enterprises, and heavy industry. In collaboration with NGBG—a cultural association based in the Norra Grängesbergsgatan district—and the City of Malmö, this research project employs participatory design methods to explore how citizens in Norra Grängesbergsgatan can be included in initiatives aimed at building a sustainable urban life, in a way that avoids contributing to a polarizing discourse.
Central to the participatory research methods applied in this project is an emphasis on listening. Here, listening is understood as an iterative process consisting of three activities: registration (acknowledging interests and the value of including various stakeholders), reflection (on underlying values and conflicts), and imagination (collectively developing scenarios that propose new paths toward sustainable futures).
In collaboration with the citizens of Norra Grängesbergsgatan and other stakeholders in the City of Malmö, this project aims to gather strategies and tools that help strengthen the capacity to listen. The results of this work will be integrated with the findings from international partners in Hasselt, Belgium, and Vorarlberg, Austria, to develop three distinct "toolkits." These toolkits will contain methods designed to foster dialogue and listening, helping to facilitate the development of sustainable urban life.
The tools include "15-Minute Radio"—utilizing podcasts and audio production to encourage dialogue and collaboration—"15-Minute Atlas"—applying cartography and mapping techniques—and "15-Walk"—a method that employs "soundwalks" to promote sustainable urban development.
